The LGMC sings at the Royal Free Hospital
This last Saturday, we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to sing at the Royal Free Hospital.
To start with, we performed a few numbers in the reception area, to entertain staff and visitors as they arrived at the hospital. These songs were from our existing repertoire, but also featured the debut of ‘I Sing the Body Electric’ which we were learning for the History show in June.
Following this, we then split into two groups to move around the wards and perform an a cappella number for those patients who were receiving long-term care at the hospital. We felt very fortunate to be able to bring a little song and happiness to the wards, and the feedback and reaction from staff and patients was heart-warming.
After the tour of the wards, we returned to the reception area to perform a final few songs for staff and visitors to the hospital.
It’s one of the amazing things about being a part of the LGMC – having the opportunity to perform in interesting places and spread a little bit of happiness where it’s most needed.
This has gone down as one of the highlights of this year so far, and we hope to be able to do something similar in the future.
